About This Audiobook

The Devil has given Alice an ultimatum and the fate of the Dark Moths and their Society rests in her hands. But should it?

The Society is in chaos and there are those who question whether King Wrythe should still wear the crown or if he is a traitor. He must prove himself to his people all over again as well as fight against the one opposing him for power.

Alice supports Wrythe one hundred percent and is determined to be there for him in any way possible. In fact, after what she saw deep in Demonland's underground, she would rather die than let Wrythe's opponent anywhere near the throne.

Ever since she followed that blasted white rabbit down a demon hole, her life has also been consumed with the Trial of Three. It's affected her at every turn, including her feelings for Kade and the king. Thankfully, Professor Pops and Abernathy the dragon are there to back her up, even if they aren't allowed in Demonland.

Kade is there for her, even though he's completed his orders and has been commanded to stay away. When Alice is with him, everything feels right. Their kisses have made her grateful she's the Queen of Hearts. If only there was a way to help his superiors see how great the two of them are together. With the second trial looming, she must choose between her people and her heart. Love and destiny. But giving up either isn't something she can live with.

At the foot of this description sits a list of four Demonland books, the last of them marked coming 6/2020. The audiobook it is attached to was published on March 15, 2026. Nobody has touched the copy since the series was still being written, which is worth knowing before you press play: everything the page tells you about where this story sits was accurate six years ago, and the recording is the only recent thing on it.

A 2019 Response Pleads for the Next Book

The Devil has given Alice an ultimatum and the fate of the Dark Moths rests with her, which is the first line of the copy and the least complicated thing in it. King Wrythe may or may not be a traitor, a rival is moving on his throne, Alice has seen something in Demonland's underground that hardened her loyalty, and the Trial of Three is still running. Just under four hours of recording carry all of it, which is short by any measure for a fantasy series volume.

The oldest of the five written responses, filed in November 2019, dates the material more precisely than anything else on the page. It pleads with the author not to make anyone wait until June 2020, credits the imagination behind all three books, and calls the cliffhanger at the end of this one cruel. That response was written more than six years before this recording existed, and it remains the most informative entry in the column.

The Title's Verb Promises More Than the Plot Delivers

Nothing in the copy disguises what kind of book this is. Alice went down a demon hole after a white rabbit, she is the Queen of Hearts, and the story runs a familiar children's fantasy through a war of succession. Those borrowed pieces are decoration on a plot about loyalty, a contested crown, and a girl asked to choose between her people and the person she wants. The decoration is light; the succession plot is where the pages go.

The series titles do their own storytelling, and they are worth reading in order before you commit. Alice arrives in Demonland, then fights it, then takes it, then ignites it, and the verb attached to this volume promises a seizure of power. What the copy actually describes is a second trial still looming and a choice not yet made, so the title is running ahead of the plot. That is a normal habit of a four-book arc, but it does set an expectation this installment does not meet.

Kade Is the Reason the Romance Holds Tension

A November 2020 five-star gives the clearest map of this volume anyone on the page has written. Alice meets someone she believed long gone and has to choose between her king, Wrythe, and Kade, whom that entry treats as the love interest proper. It asks who Joannie is and how she knows Professor Pops, and it places the book as the third of four. Those two questions are the engine of the plot, and the copy confirms neither.

Kade is the reason the romance holds any tension. The copy states that he has completed his orders and been commanded to stay away, that everything feels right to Alice when she is with him, and that their kisses have made her grateful to be the Queen of Hearts. Set that against a king she supports one hundred percent, a rival moving on the throne and a second trial approaching, and the shape of a four-hour book becomes clear enough.

Compression is the practical argument for this one. Under four hours, the copy fits an ultimatum, a succession crisis, an ongoing trial and a romantic triangle, and it does not waste any of that time on reintroductions. Professor Pops and Abernathy the dragon are named as support and then barred from Demonland by the rules of the place, which strips the protagonist of her allies without inventing a reason to separate them.

Ninety-Nine Graders Met This on the Page

Virtual Voice fills the narrator slot. That is a synthetic credit rather than a named performer, and the listing carries no other production credit, so the usual questions about pacing, character distinction and emphasis cannot be answered from this page at all. Sampling before buying matters more here than on most records, and it matters most on a book whose central problem is a choice between two suitors, where tone carries the difference between them.

Every one of the five written responses predates the recording by years. They run from November 2019 to August 2021, they describe reading rather than listening, and the newest is more than four years older than the March 2026 release date this record carries. Ninety-nine graders are counted above those five texts. Whatever those readers are recommending, they met it on the page rather than through headphones.

Filed under children's audiobooks with a fairy tales tag, the record sells a story that opens on the Devil issuing an ultimatum and spends its middle on kisses, a contested crown and a choice between two men. None of that is unusual for young adult fantasy. But the shelf a record sits on and the age of the audience that shelf implies are not the same thing, and no age guidance of any kind appears in the copy, the tags or the column.

Anyone Needing a Human Voice Should Look Elsewhere

Listeners who already have the first two Demonland volumes behind them, and want the third in an afternoon, are the audience. A February 2020 five-star describes being so engrossed in Alice's journey that it did not want the series to end, and calls her the epitome of strength with demon and angel blood running through her. That is the register the whole column shares: fast, high feeling, and firmly on the protagonist's side.

Anyone hoping for a standalone should look elsewhere, and so should anyone who needs a human reader. The copy closes with a trial still to come and a choice unmade, the series list names a fourth volume whose status the page cannot confirm in any format, and the narrator field holds a synthetic credit. Those three facts settle the purchase far more reliably than a 4.5 average drawn from ninety-nine graders does.

In Brief

  • Themes: A fairy-tale frame over a war of succession, divided loyalty, a romantic triangle, trials and cliffhangers.
  • Mood: Fast, high-feeling and unresolved.
  • Verdict: Worth four hours if books one and two are behind you and you sample the synthetic reading before paying.

What does Virtual Voice mean on this audiobook?

The narrator field holds a synthetic voice credit rather than a named performer. No human reader is listed, no production note appears, and no line of the copy describes how the recording was made. Sample it before paying: a romance-driven fantasy leans on tone more than most, and the listing cannot tell you how this one handles it.

Is this audiobook suitable for the children's shelf it sits on?

The record is filed under children's audiobooks with a fairy tales tag, but the copy opens on the Devil issuing an ultimatum and moves on to kisses, a contested throne and a choice between two suitors. It reads as young adult rather than middle grade, and no age guidance appears anywhere.

Do I need the first two Demonland books?

Yes. The copy begins mid-crisis, assumes you know who King Wrythe, Kade and Professor Pops are, and treats the Trial of Three as unfinished business already under way. The series list printed at the end of the description names all four titles in order, with this one third.

Is the fourth Demonland book available?

The description lists Alice Ignites Demonland as coming 6/2020, a date that had passed years before this March 2026 recording appeared. The page gives no current status for that volume in any format. Check the series yourself before committing to an ending the copy openly withholds.
