About This Audiobook

This book is intended for the Intermediate i.e. 11th and 12th classes students. The fundamental concepts and principles behind Mathematics are explained in a simple, easy- to- understand manner. Each chapter contains a large number of solved example or problem which will help the students in problem solving. This text book is organized into Six chapters.

Chapter -1: Sets, Relations and Functions
Chapter- 2: Basic Algebra
Chapter -3: Trigonometry
Chapter-4: Combinatorics and Mathematical Induction
Chapter-5: Binomial Theorem, Sequences and Series
Chapter-6: Two Dimensional Analytical Geometry

This book has been written with the firm conviction that a good book is one that can be read by student with minimum of guidance from his instructor. Clarity no less utility has been the author’s constant goal which is a result of his long and varied experience as a teacher and Examiner. To achieve this, more than the usual number of solved examples together with carefully designed diagrams and properly graded problems have been given. Many of examples and problems have been selected from recent papers of various examinations board like CBSE and ICSE board examinations so as to make the reader familiar with the type of questions usually set therein. As far as possible, It has been plan to make each chapter an independent unit so that the various topics could be studied in any order. This book has, therefore, has been written with the sole aim of providing a suitable text book covering all topics common to various 11th and 12th classes courses in India and abroad, beyond the stage of usual courses in Calculus and Co-ordinate Geometry.

Quick Take

  • Narration: Virtual Voice AI narration, functional for textbook-style content but lacks the human nuance needed to make mathematical instruction genuinely engaging across 18 hours.
  • Themes: Pure mathematics foundations, CBSE/ICSE curriculum alignment, structured problem-solving
  • Mood: Didactic and methodical, this is a textbook in audio form, not a listening experience designed for exploration
  • Verdict: A direct audio conversion of a mathematics textbook for Indian 11th and 12th grade curriculum, useful as a study supplement for that specific audience, but not designed for general listeners seeking mathematical enrichment.

Some audiobooks are built for the ear; others are built for the page and then converted into audio. Mathematics Volume 1 of 4 by Dr. Vibhav Kumar Sachan belongs firmly to the second category. I want to be honest about that from the start, because it shapes everything about how to evaluate this title and who it actually serves.

This is a textbook covering the first volume of a four-part mathematics series aimed at Indian secondary school students in the 11th and 12th standard, aligned with CBSE and ICSE board examination requirements. The six chapters span Sets, Relations and Functions; Basic Algebra; Trigonometry; Combinatorics and Mathematical Induction; Binomial Theorem, Sequences and Series; and Two-Dimensional Analytical Geometry. The scope is exactly what you would expect from a rigorous secondary mathematics curriculum, comprehensive, systematically organized, and built around the twin goals of conceptual clarity and examination preparation.

Our Take on Mathematics Volume 1 of 4

Dr. Sachan’s stated aim is admirable: to produce a textbook that a student can follow with minimum guidance from an instructor. The emphasis on clarity, worked examples, and carefully graded problems is consistent with good pedagogical design, and the chapter-as-independent-unit structure gives students flexibility in how they approach the material. Each chapter contains a substantial number of solved examples and objective-type problems, and the inclusion of diagrams, referenced throughout the text, represents a genuine effort to make abstract concepts visually accessible.

The challenge is that mathematics textbooks are built around visual communication in ways that other nonfiction texts are not. Equations, geometric diagrams, coordinate geometry illustrations, trigonometric unit circle diagrams, these are not decoration but primary carriers of meaning. When those elements are described in prose rather than displayed spatially, the cognitive load on the listener increases significantly, and the efficiency that a well-laid-out page provides is lost. A student working through two-dimensional analytical geometry or following a proof by mathematical induction will encounter real friction in audio form that would not exist on the page.

Why Listen to Mathematics Volume 1 of 4

The most plausible use case for this audiobook is as a supplementary review tool for students who have already engaged with the written textbook or equivalent classroom instruction. Listening to a clear verbal walkthrough of concepts you have already encountered visually, whether for review before an examination, during commute time, or as reinforcement during a revision period, is a legitimate study strategy. In that mode, the audio format’s limitations are mitigated because the visual architecture already exists in the student’s memory, and the verbal descriptions can reactivate and reinforce it.

The series structure also provides clarity about scope. Volume 1 of 4 is a substantial starting point at 18 hours and 8 minutes, covering foundational material that subsequent volumes will build on. Students who need comprehensive coverage of the full 11th and 12th standard curriculum will eventually need all four volumes. Starting here represents a meaningful commitment, and the chapter organization makes it possible to engage with specific sections of the material without listening sequentially from the beginning.

What to Watch For in Mathematics Volume 1 of 4

The Virtual Voice narration is the most significant limitation to understand before investing time in this audiobook. AI-generated narration has improved substantially in recent years, and for straightforward prose it can be entirely adequate. Mathematical content presents specific challenges, however: the precise articulation of symbolic expressions, the distinction between structurally similar terms, and the appropriate pacing for worked examples all benefit from human judgment and pedagogical experience. Virtual Voice delivers the content accurately but without the kind of instructional inflection that signals to a student where to direct attention or when to pause and work through a step independently.

There are no listener reviews for this title at time of writing, which means there is no direct feedback from students who have used it to report on its practical effectiveness as a study aid. Prospective listeners in the target audience should treat the first chapter as a genuine evaluation period before committing to the full 18 hours.

Who Should Listen to Mathematics Volume 1 of 4

The intended audience is Indian secondary school students studying for CBSE or ICSE board examinations who want audio access to textbook content for review and reinforcement purposes. It is not a title for general listeners curious about mathematics, those looking for engaging mathematical exploration would be better served by titles like Simon Singh’s Fermat’s Last Theorem or George Polya’s How to Solve It. It is also not a replacement for classroom instruction or a first encounter with the material; the textbook is designed as a student resource, and that design assumption is present in the audio version. For the specific student audience it targets, it offers convenient access to structured curriculum content in a portable format.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is this audiobook a useful primary study resource, or is it designed to supplement existing classroom instruction?

It is best understood as a supplementary resource. The textbook design assumes some access to instruction, and the audio format specifically benefits students who already have visual familiarity with the material and are using the audio for review and reinforcement rather than first-encounter learning.

How well does the Virtual Voice AI narration handle the mathematical content, particularly worked examples and proofs?

Virtual Voice delivers the verbal content accurately but lacks the pedagogical inflection of a human instructor. Mathematical content that depends heavily on symbolic notation, diagrams, and precisely articulated steps may be harder to follow than general prose. Listeners should use the first chapter as an evaluation period before committing to the full runtime.

Is this series relevant for students outside the Indian CBSE/ICSE curriculum, such as UK A-level or US AP Calculus students?

The content overlaps with pre-calculus and early calculus topics common to many secondary curricula globally, so the mathematical content itself is not geographically restricted. However, the examination alignment and problem set curation are specific to Indian board examinations, so students in other systems may find the coverage slightly mismatched to their particular curriculum requirements.

Are all four volumes of this series currently available in audio format?

This audiobook represents Volume 1 of 4. Whether subsequent volumes are available in audio format would need to be confirmed in the Audible catalog or via the publisher, as the series structure suggests additional volumes exist in the broader publication.
