Hunted by the Dragon
Bounty hunter by trade, dragon-shifter by birth, Seanan came to Earth in search of a mate. Two years later, he finds himself crossing paths with exactly what he’s been looking for - too bad the frustrating female is the reason he’s stranded on the planet in the first place.

Mischievous Prince
He’s a dragonshifting prince, and she’s a human. What could possibly go wrong?

Dragon shifter Prince Finn will do whatever it takes to save his people from extinction, including accessing the forbidden portal to find a human bride.

This book features a cat-shifting prince.

Six novels ride under one narrator credit here, and that arithmetic is the first thing a romance listener should sit with. Twenty-three hours and twenty-five minutes covers the complete Captured by a Dragon-Shifter run, books one through six, with David Brenin's name attached to every minute of it. Work it out and you get slightly under four hours a novel. Whether that reads as excellent value or as a very long stretch with a single voice for six different couples depends entirely on how you listen, and this audiobook listing offers almost nothing to help you decide.

Our Take on Captured by a Dragon-Shifter Series (The Complete Box Set)

The description names the six titles plainly enough: Determined Prince, Rebellious Prince, Stranded with the Cajun, Hunted by the Dragon, Mischievous Prince, Headstrong Prince. What it does not do is give them equal weight. Determined Prince gets a full setup, with Kyran, a population of female shifters dying out on his planet, and a search on Earth for replacements. Stranded with the Cajun gets exactly one sentence, and that sentence is "The bayou is about to get a whole lot hotter for Drake." No heroine, no shifter type, no conflict, nothing.

Barbara Harrison's response is the most useful writing attached to this set, and it reaches two of the six. The review grades Determined Prince and Rebellious Prince separately, five stars each, and supplies detail the publisher's copy never bothers with: Draig Prince Kyran of Qurilixen, pegged as "possibly over 60", meeting "30-year-old Eve Minott recently from Cleveland, Ohio", and then "over-worked accountant Jenna Kearney, kidnapped from Kansas City, Kansas by Var Prince Rafe of Qurilixen". Four of the six novels go entirely undescribed by anyone.

David Brenin carries the whole thing, and for a romance box of this size that deserves thought before you buy. Six heroes, six heroines, most of them from another planet, all in one voice across the better part of a full day. Dual narration is standard in this subgenre precisely because the alternating viewpoint is half the pleasure, and this credit line holds one name with no second attached. Nothing indicates whether the six were recorded together or gathered up from separate releases.

Why Listen to Captured by a Dragon-Shifter Series (The Complete Box Set)

Romance is the category and Science Fiction is the tag, and both are accurate in a way that can still catch a listener out. These are portal books: princes cross to Earth to find human brides, and the copy files the mix as "Contemporary, Science Fiction Portal Travel, Fantasy Paranormal Romance" in one unpunctuated string. A reviewer writing from the United Kingdom is blunter about it, warning that anyone who wants aliens and other planets should look elsewhere, because "they are about shifters, cats and dragons".

Kyran's people, the copy says, are "gravely in need of mates", and that shortage is the engine under all six books. What follows is a fairly reliable set of pleasures: a reluctant human, an overconfident prince, a planet that needs her, and roughly three and a half hours to get from the collision to the ending. The formula does not vary much across the run, which for this kind of reading is closer to a feature than a flaw.

Humor is the actual promise, and the copy makes it in so many words, billing the set as a paranormal shifter romantic comedy series from a NYT Bestselling Author. The blurbs support the claim. A prince opens with what one review calls "the world's WORST pickup line". A bounty hunter, Seanan, spends two years on Earth and then walks straight into the woman who stranded him. A forbidden portal stays forbidden right up until somebody needs a wife. The set even opens on its own punchline twice, since the line about a dragonshifting prince, a human woman and what could possibly go wrong runs at the top of the description and again under Mischievous Prince, where Prince Finn goes hunting a bride through that forbidden door.

What to Watch For in Captured by a Dragon-Shifter Series (The Complete Box Set)

Cat-shifting princes are the oddest thing in this description, and the description volunteers them twice. Rebellious Prince closes with the line "This book features a cat-shifting prince." Headstrong Prince, in which Prince Ivar meets Beth Watson, closes with exactly the same sentence. So a box sold under the words Dragon-Shifter holds at least two novels the publisher itself marks as feline, and the United Kingdom review confirms the blend. Come for dragons alone and a third of the purchase is something else.

Dying out is how the copy explains the shortage of women on Qurilixen. That same United Kingdom reviewer tells it differently, describing men who come to Earth to "steal themselves a bride" because no women live on the planet at all. Extinction in progress and total absence are not the same premise, and nothing on this listing lets you settle which one the six novels actually run on. For a series whose entire engine is that shortage, the difference is not cosmetic.

Nine grades produced the 4.6 above and only three people wrote anything, so the visible spread runs from five stars down to one. The dissent is specific: it objects to an all-anglo cast and to gender roles it says are pushed HARD, a word shouted three separate times across the review's title and body. Note as well that the series information sits empty even though the title says Series and the copy says books 1-6, so nothing here numbers the six for you.

Who Should Listen to Captured by a Dragon-Shifter Series (The Complete Box Set)

Portal-romance readers get the most from this, and the set gives them plenty: six couples, six variations on the same abduction-adjacent meet-cute, and a consistently comic register. Anyone already fond of Michelle M. Pillow's Qurilixen novels will recognize the furniture immediately. At under four hours a book these work as palate cleansers between heavier listens, and buying the run in one file spares you chasing six separate purchases. The set has been sitting on the shelf since December 2023 and has drawn nine grades in that time, which tells you it is a quiet corner of the catalog, never a title anybody is fighting over.

Newcomers should know the set is unapologetically old-fashioned about who does what, which the one-star review states plainly and which the copy's own language does nothing to contradict. Want dragons only, and you should budget for two cat novels. Want dual narration, and this credit does not offer it. Twenty-three hours is a long way to travel with one voice and six couples, so play the sample before you commit the credit.

At a Glance

  • Narrator: David Brenin voices all six novels alone, a single credit covering six heroes and six heroines across twenty-three hours.
  • Subjects: fated mates, portal travel, alien princes seeking human brides, shifter romance, comic misunderstanding
  • Tone: Broad, comic and unhurried
  • Bottom line: Strong value for portal-romance regulars, and a poor fit if you want dragons only or two narrators.
