About This Audiobook

A fallen comrade. Sinister sorcery. Can a sapphic secret agent team up with a beautiful elf to save the realm?

Wren Xavier prizes loyalty above all else. So when someone murders her only friend in the world, the magical superspy swears she’ll bring the killer to justice. But her only lead is the megalomaniacal ambassador from the enchanted land of elves – who couldn’t possibly have committed the crime.

Pursuing her quarry to his home country, the thirty-nine-year-old covert operative finds herself in over her head in a culture she doesn’t understand. And when she discovers a link between the suspect, a sinister artifact, and a psychotic assassin, falling for the lovely captain of the guard may be the mistake that puts them both in the ground.

Can Wren expose a conspiratorial coup, or will her quest for vengeance meet with fatal failure?

The Dark Legend is the thrilling first book in the Shadows over Alfar queer, fantasy-espionage mashup series. If you like strong LGBTQ+ characters, swords and sorcery, and action that’s shaken, not stirred, then you’ll love Phoebe Ravencraft’s electrifying adventure.

★★★★★

Excellent story

This is a very intriguing world, using similarities from our own world. The plot is quite complex, so you will need to pay attention to the details throughout the story. It does have a good ending, with a set up for the next book, which I look forward to reading.

An Exceptional Read

The storyline of this book is nothing short of amazing. The author's mind is mind-blowing when it comes to even the small nuisance of characters, their gifts, their ideology- everything. The character Ravenger and his shatten was wild. The author's mind is mind-blowing. Family, you love this one. Happy Reading

Fantasy Cold War Thriller

Imagine The Man From UNCLE with elves and magic. If that sounds exciting then this novel is for you! The story occasionally borders on the farcical — one of the major cultures are the most stereotypical vodka-soaked Soviets you've ever seen — but it's a tightly-woven tale with very serious…

★★★☆☆

Good story, meh writing.

There were several spelling errors and a few times pronouns were mixed up. Also, the name Wren would switch to Wolf occasionally; I assume that it was a mistake. I felt that some scenes had enough detail, but emotional scenes between the main characters were lacking. Wren and Simone flirted…
